New Usher: Song=HOT, Video=NOT

Usher - Moving Mountains
Ushers video for his new single, Moving Mountains, is just way too much. They thought about this concept way past the point of cool or good and settled somewhere around "you got to be kidding me." There AWESOME song could have been translated, visually, so much better, but instead what we have is this...

Is Mariah as CRAZY as She looks?

If we asked you to caption this photo, you would be having just as a hard time trying to write something nice about as we are. Aw hell, we would even take a line or two that can make sense of it.

In any event, Mariah Carey threw out the first pitch at the Yomiuri Giants vs. Rakuten Eagles baseball game at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, but but but what they hell is she wearing? No one has ever, nor should ever, look to Mariah for their sense of fashion, but she has to at least work with us a little.

Sidebar: her track "Thanks for Nothing (
sorry we need to spell it as ignorantly as she did "Thanx 4 Nothin)" is crazy, two thumbs up.

Timberland Who?????

Sorry Timb. We love what you bring to the game as an artist, writer, and producer, but on this one you just were not needed at all. Let alone on the track, you definitely were not needed in this video. These girls, Keri Hilson and Nicole Scherzinger, killed this one and looked sexy as hell doing it. If you missed this one, make sure you watch closely. For real, turn off all cell phones, house phones, TVs or anything that falls under the category as a distraction. This one needs your full undivided attention.

HOT New Music

Yeah it's Tuesday again and you know what that means, besides another long work day, its new music day and her are the top three picks from Blaseblah.
  1. If you are alive and have a pulse with any type of love for music, then you have to pick up the new Usher CD. Its not his best work as a whole, but there are some individual songs, that are just AMAZING.
  2. Keri Hilson is also a must buy. Though this is her new single, Energy, she has been around the block for a while with writing credits for some of your industry favorites and guest appearances with Timberland, Chris Brown and an appearance in Ushers Video "Love in the Club." Expect great things from this one.
  3. The silent creeper is a new artist on Siri Music named Stefani Vara. More than just a pretty face, she's some solid lyrics and crazy beat over smooth vocals. If you have not heard of her yet, you might want to go ahead and jump on that so you not the last to know. Her single is called Water and will have you completely soaked in her spell.
In other music, the Pussycat Dolls put out a crappy single, but Michelle Williams seems to be moving in the right direction with her first R&B solo single. Your best bet is to check out all of the of the above and then give a listen to a few other new artist, who knows you might find something new you like.

Memorial Day: Most people have no clue...

For most people its just a 3 day weekend and time to cook out with friends and family, but most of us have no clue how is came about and what its real meaning is. So here is just a little info to elevate your social awareness.

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two-dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, "Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping" by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication "To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead.” The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). It is now celebrated in almost every State on the last Monday in May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 - 363) to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays), though several southern states have an additional separate day for honoring the Confederate war dead: January 19 in Texas, April 26 in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi; May 10 in South Carolina; and June 3 (Jefferson Davis' birthday) in Louisiana and Tennessee. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

SUPERsize Me

There has been a recent wave of "beefed up" rappers/producers as of late, but no one seems to know why. For a minute, slim has been in, but 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Timberland, Dr. Dre, just to name a few, have opted for a more beefy, I just bought stock in Ball's Gym, look. Hey listen, if you want to be so big that your neck suddenly collapses into your shoulders, that's your business, but hopefully its being done naturally and safely. It just looks like if we stuck them with a pin, juice would spill out.

Drugs do kill brain cells, right Fergie?

There is really no need to write too much about Fergie's performance on the Today Show last week because the video says more than any words possible. I think Fergie has either killed the part of her brain that holds common sense or she thinks she has become so huge that she does not have to care anymore. Either way, at around 2:53 on the video, Fergie performs a strip show and dry hump for the kinds of New York City. Don't misunderstand, she has been gradually building up to this point of crazy, but now she has finally arrived.

And the winner is...

Yes it's true. David Cook deserved to win American Idol, but it was not based on his final performances. If we looked at just the finale duel and the bashing Simon gave him, he really was not the winner. He has more potential, he has more range, he has more artistry, but David A. brought his best to the final sing off while Mr. Cook was ready to just move on with his life and it showed. Fact is, Cook deserved to win based on his talent and solid performances throughout the season. Congrats to both though, since the winner was not even announced yet and they had both already signed their records deals. Lets just hope the runner up(David A.) follows in the steps of Mr. Clay Aiken and not some of the other runner ups, who will remain unnamed, but they lost to Kelly, Fantasia, and Taylor.

Come on Usher...!

Usher ain't even thirty yet, but maybe his more "mature" wife has caused him to age a little faster. Tonight on the Finale of Dancing with the Stars, Usher decided to do one of his first, if not the first, live performance of "Love in the Club" and from the looks of things he has not been in a club or gym for that matter for quite some time. Wearing all black, not for the fashion, but because he is out of shape. To ad insult to injury, he is performing on dancing with the stars, but was completely off his dancing game, OFF. If you watch closely, you will see him smile/laugh when he misses his steps.

Lets not even comment on the jazz/big band version of "YEAH." The was an insult to such a great genre of music, he had at least 20 other songs his arsenal that would have been better. Not to mention the real life office chair right out of the green room, "tacky." And to finish it office he was still missing dance steps and tripping over other dancers. Just way below his standards.

Let's be clear, we are a HUGE fan of Ushers here, but last night.....NOT SO MUCH! Well he sounded good and we are hugely looking forward to the new album.
