Nothing Like Mom's Home Cookin

So if you were or are not fortunate enough to have a mother that can throw down in the kitchen, then I am sure this post won't make much sense to you. On the other hand, if you did, well then lets just say "you understand." A mothers home cooked meal is enough to make you walk out on your job, leave your wife/husband/girlfriend/boy friend, and possibly make you lose your damn mind. This is all just from the thought of what mom is preparing. Let's not even begin to talk about eating at the dinner table and someone actually trying to taste your food, thats just not allowed. There is just something special about a home cooked meal. Something that touches your soul. A mother prepares a meal with love and you just can't get that out of a box or from a fast food joint. Food this good even has the family pets pulling up a chair to the dinner table. Now go on and call your mom and see whats for dinner. You know she always has space for you.

PussyCat Dolls-The Real Deal

Typically, you fall in love with a song, based on hearing it over the radio/on CD or watching the video and then loose interest in the song after seeing the artist perform it love. However, in this case, the PussyCat Dolls have taken a mediocre song and made it amazing through their live performances. Say what you want about these girls, but their live performance of "When I Grow Up" has consistently been one of the best live performances in a long time. They are completely submerged in the character of this song from start to finish vocally, dancing, clothing, facial expression, the whole nine. Whom ever has put together their live show for this song, as a whole, should b commended for putting together a show to be proud of. The girls with their talent, energy and good looks just took it over the top.

What if our favorite cartoon characters and superheroes had the same insecurities as real people. This is completely meant for entertainment purposes, as not to offend anyone. We stumbled across this and had to share. Actually have probably thought some of this in the past and during one of those meaning less conversations during a drunken stooper, have probably shared it with them.

Lil Mama Keeps it Poppin

Following up to the successful flop of her debut album, its good to see that Lil Mama already had a backup- plan in play with season two of America's Best Dance Crew. Not like we have not seen this formula before, there are auditions, contestants, judges and a corny host. Despite Lil Mama struggling in her own musical career, her role on the show has shown her in a very different light, one of intelligence, candor and a great sense of humor. Regardless of you may or may not feel about her music, which is definitely worth a listen or two, she really comes through as a judge for this show and was smart enough to make sure the was a secondary source of income besides album sales.

Joining Lil Mama on the show are industry Veterans JC Chasez, Shane Sparks, and Mario Lopez. If you said "who" to all of those names, then first come out of the bubble you have been living in for the last 10 years and then take comfort in knowing the American Idol Judge Randy Jackson is responsible for this very entertaining competition, hence the very familiar format.

Season 2 of America's Best Dance Crew, debuts on MTV Thursday June 19th. Check your local listing for exact times. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how entertaining Lil Mama is as well as the show itself.

What a PROUD people.

If it has never been said before, the let it be said first here. Puerto Ricans are the proudest people in the World! Certainly in every culture the people are and should be proud of who they are, but no one takes it to the level of the Boricua. In New York City, there will be an over abundances of ricanism as they kick off the 50th NYC Puerto Rican Day Parade. Sidebar: The National Puerto Rican Day Parade started in 1995; the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City began in 1958. Meaning that for the last two weeks, there have been more flags, rims, mangos, and red hats/scarfs/gloves/socks/underwear/t-shirts/dressed/shorts etc...than any other time of the year. The car washes in NYC are making BIG money, half the day cares in NYC closed down early because even the toddlers had to get their gear right for the festive weekend. The NYC PR Parade has become a hugely successful annual event, barring a few fluke years along the way. Its so big, that if you not Puerto Rican, you can become one for the day. It comes with the perks of...............................well its alot of fun (just kidding). If you have never had the opportunity to attend the parade, its truly something you should put on your "bucket list" to do in this lifetime. Its truly an experience that you will happily remember for ever and possible adapt as apart of your family tradition.

To our Boricua friends and family, continue to take pride in who you are as a people and enjoy this festive occasion. Super sidebar: please drink and party responsibly and remember you are also human beings, so if you see a non-rican parade goer, embrace them into the festivities, they are still your brother or sister.

We must take action: Save the children

Say it with us "we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore." Speaking not only for the talented television and movie  writers, actors/actresses, stylists, etc, but also for the voice of a generation growing up increasingly less enlightened than the generations before, we must write to the networks. Beg with them, plead with them, please stop handing out reality shows to any celebrity who asks. It really is hurting our lives or at the very least our level of social consciousness. We have the Tila girl, Flava, New York, Denise Richards, Scott Baio, The damn Lohans, The Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Hulk Hogan, Gene Simmons, need we go on. Yes sometimes they can add the slightest bit of entertainment to our lives, but at what cost. Is it worth little Becky and Jamal, thinking its ok to date 16 people at the same time, make out with them all and decide which one is best. Can we instill some self respect in our kids, or in ourselves. Do we want the next generation thinking that not being able to complete a full sentence is the chosen path? Now to be fair there are some good reality shows out there, but just because you are or at some point in you life were a relevant celebrity, does not mean you should actually bring the world into the stupidty that is your life. Just take a look at this list and you decide.

CHERISH them, but know one remembers them.

Cherish, a very talented R&B group has been on the music scene for a little while trying to make themselves relevant in the hearts and minds of the general public, but its not working. Why is that? They are all good looking girls, nice voices, decent music, but no ever remembers them. Could it be because there is nothing to remember? None of the girls stands out. Not vocally, not visually, not even with their personality. Its like they are all pieces of one whole that is Cherish. Now surely they will say that's how they want to be, a single unit, a family, blah blah blah, but the truth is they need to do something. One of needs a hair cut, or bland wig or something, but at this rate they will surely be an after thought in R&B/Pop female vocal groups. They are an amazing talent, but something has got to give. Even on their website, there is no distinction as to who is who, nor do we see it visually, until we dig into the site and find the wallpaper downloads.

Cherish, lets make a deal. You do your part and let as get to know you not only as a group but individuals as well and we will continue to do our part by support the good music you put out.

Fashion World in Mourning, Legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent dies at 71

Saint Laurent was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Oran, Algeria. YSL first emerged as a promising designer at the young age of only 17, winning first prize in a contest sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat for a cocktail dress design.

Only a year later in 1954, he enrolled at the Chambre Syndicale school of haute couture, which he quickly found out was not the route for him. He was soon introduced to Christian Dior, then regarded as the greatest creator of his day, and Dior was so impressed with YSL's talent that he hired him on the spot.

When Dior died suddenly in 1957, Saint Laurent was named head of the House of Dior at the age of 21, which is still virtually unheard of till this day.

After years of success, breaking fashion and social barriers worldwide, At the age of 65, YSL decided retirement might be the next chapter in his life.

After retirement, Saint Laurent spoke of his battles with depression, drugs and loneliness, though he gave no indication that those problems were directly tied to his decision to stop working."I've known fear and terrible solitude," he said. "Tranquilizers and drugs, those phony friends. The prison of depression and hospitals. I've emerged from all this, dazzled but sober."

YSL is often referred to as one of the last great fashion designers, but leaving behind such a powerful legacy to the world will only ensure that a new breed of fashion designers will eagerly looking to make an impact on the world of fashion, with only a few truly learning from his teachings. Those few, will carry his legacy and the legacy of others into the next generation.

Yves Saint Laurent died on June 1, 2008, at home in Paris after a year-long fight against brain cancer and will truly be missed.

Sorry Timb. We love what you bring to the game as an artist, writer, and producer, but on this one you just were not needed at all. Let alone on the track, you definitely were not needed in this video. These girls, Keri Hilson and Nicole Scherzinger, killed this one and looked sexy as hell doing it. Yeah it's Tuesday again and you know what that means, besides another long work day, its new music day and her are the top three picks from Blaseblah.

1. If you are alive and have a pulse with any type of love for music, then you have to pick up the new Usher CD. Its not his best work as a whole, but there are some individual songs, that are just AMAZING.
2. Keri Hilson is also a must buy. Though this is her new single, Energy, she has been around the block for a while with writing credits for some of your industry favorites and guest appearances with Timberland, Chris Brown and an appearance in Ushers Video "Love in the Club." Expect great things from this one.
3. The silent creeper is a new artist on Siri Music named Stefani Vara. More than just a pretty face, she's some solid lyrics and crazy beat over smooth vocals. If you have not heard of her yet, you might want to go ahead and jump on that so you not the last to know. Her single is called Water and will have you completely soaked in her spell.
   

In other music, the Pussycat Dolls put out a crappy single, but Michelle Williams seems to be moving in the right direction with her first R&B solo single. Your best bet is to check out all of the of the above and then give a listen to a few other new artist, who knows you might find something new you like.
